Victoria James on her New Release THE RANCHER'S SECOND CHANCE

I welcome Victoria James to MBB today......

I always knew I wanted to be a writer and in grade five, I penned my first story, bound it (with staples) and a cardboard cover and did all the illustrations myself (if you’ve ever seen my drawings you’ll know how horrible they must have been.  I still draw stick figures).  Luckily, this book will never see the light of day again.
In high school I fell in love with historical romance and then contemporary romance.  After graduating University with an English Literature degree, I married my own hero, pursued a degree in Interior Design and then opened my own business.
After the birth of our first child, I knew it was time to fulfill the dream of writing romantic fiction.  I’m a hopeless romantic who is living my dream, penning happily-ever-after’s for my characters in between managing kids and the family business.  Writing on a laptop in the middle of the country in a rambling old Victorian house would be ideal, but I’m quite content living in suburbia with my husband, our two young children, and very bad cat.

Can you share a short bio with me and the readers?
I’m a mom and wife and writer. We have two adorable (though a little crazy) kids, ages seven and three and we live near Toronto. I’m an Interior Designer/Small business owner…and as of last year a published Romance Writer J  I write contemporary romance for Entangled, Indulgence.  THE RANCHER’S SECOND CHANCE is my fourth book for Entangled, Indulgence.I’m a hopeless romantic, living my dream, penning happily-ever-after's for my characters in between managing kids and the family business. Writing on a laptop in the middle of the country in a rambling old Victorian house would be ideal, but I’m quite content living in suburbia with my husband, our two young children, and very bad cat ;-).

What made you a writer?
I love reading. I started out as a reader. In grade five, I penned my first story, bound it (with staples) and a cardboard cover and did all the illustrations myself. Luckily, this book will never see the light of day again.  I loved the Laura Ingalls Wilder book, Nancy Drew…and then in high school I fell in love with the romance genre.  After my first child was born, I knew it was time to pursue writing for publication. I sold my first book, The Billionaire’s Christmas Baby to Entangled, Indulgence and it debuted in November, 2012.

What inspires you?

I’m inspired by people…I love writing about people I can learn from or want to be friends with. We all put ourselves out there, we look for love and happily-ever-afters and sometimes along the way we are faced with heartbreak and tragedy: people who find the courage to start over and have faith that in the end everything will turn out, inspires me…

Review - 1857 Dust of Ages - The Forgotten Tale by Vandana Shanker

This has to be the first review on MBB in a very long time and it was well worth the wait. Anyone who likes Indian historical fiction is going to adore this beautiful read.

Maria Perry Mohan's Review of 1857 Dust of AgesVolume I -  A Forgotten Tale by Vandana Shankar

As historical fiction goes, this is first class. We’re literally getting glimpses of a fascinating story as seen through the eyes of today. Can it really be that an Indian royal family gave their daughter in marriage to a British Army officer?  Some say it could be impossible, but has the truth been covered up? And why?
Those glances back in time show teasing glimpses of a royal family at a crossroads. The queen’s consternation when a male hair has not been born and her greedy sister-in-law, the one who has a son, eyes up the kingdom. Would such a queen mother be good for a kingdom? Probably not.

The princess’s character comes through as a girl who has been born to lead her kingdom. The 19th century produced one of the gr…
