Chills for Halloween from Christina De Mello

I thought it would be appropriate to have Christina De Mello on at MBB as my guest this Hallowe'en. Christine is a bit of a mistress of the macabre, with an anthology of short stories out, just in time for the spooky season.  Ever since I started reading her book, CHAMELEON, I have to keep looking over my shoulder to make sure I'm alone.  Really alone! Unlike my usual visitors to MBB, I actually know Christina in the flesh and I can assure you, she is a warm, friendly woman with a wonderful sense of humour and nothing like you'd imagine, with her penchant for the paranormal.  I had a few searching questions to ask her this Halloween.

Your stories are very vibrant yet they deal with fearsome matters. Didn’t you ever get scared when you were writing them?
My stories are vibrant and not what one would really expect to read in a horror story but then life is vibrant yet amongst it all is horror-seen and unseen. Yes, somet…

Rachel Van Dyken with a new release THE WAGER

Rachel Van Dyken, author and book critic, has a new release out, THE WAGER.  It's the follow up to THE BET, which was a huge hit on the Amazon charts.  Rachel's output is truly prolific and she writes in the Regency historical genre and the New Adult genre.  She's been hugely busy with writing and promoting her work lately, as well as dealing with pressing family matters, but I really wanted to take the opportunity to help get the word out about this book, which is as exciting as the first part of this series.  I interviewed Rachel a couple of months ago and I'm taking the opportunity to reprint a  portion of that interview, which you can see below.

What made you decide to write?
I was a school counselor right out of college and also worked for the state as a therapist. Things were stressful to say the least. As a way to de-stress I started writing--and I haven't stopped since! I always have a story of some kind rolli…

Anna Garner's Debut Chick LIt Novel LYING TO MEET YOU

It gives me great pleasure to welcome author Anna Garner to MBB today.  Anna is none other than our old friend, Libby Mercer, who writes sweet contemporary romance.  She's back, this time as Anna Garner, with a new novel in the women's fiction/chick lit genre called LYING TO MEET YOU.  The book looks really good.  The cover is attractive and as I'm familiar with Libby Mercer's work, I know it's going to be a great read.  I asked Anna to share about what it's like to jump from one genre to another and she very kindly obliged.  So, over to Anna now!

On Writing in Two Different Genres
My first three books were classic romances. Well… that’s not exactly accurate. I call them quirky love stories because even though they followed the classic romance structure, they’re written in a chick lit voice. Ever since I read Bridget Jones’s Diary way back when, I’ve been writing chick lit stories. For years, I tried to fi…

Sandra Marton on her Wilde Series - Guest Post and Giveaway!

I'm delighted to welcome author Sandra Marton to MBB today.  Sandra is the author of fabulous and absorbing romantic fiction which literally sweeps you off your feet and gives you a great time.  She has published novels with Harlequin Mills & Boon and has self published novels also.  My particular favorite is CHARON'S CROSSING, a paranormal contemporary/historical romance which I found absolutely thrilling and compulsive.  I'm so pleased to host her today.  She's here with a guest post and a giveaway.

That’s what I want to give to my readers.

And there’s one more thing.

I want to give you stories that cover a big canvas.

What do I mean by a big canvas? Simply put, I’m talking about storylines that mingle, merge and come to…

Annie Seaton With Two New Releases!

Annie Seaton is someone who needs no introduction to regular readers of this blog.  Her AFFAIR trilogy, her steampunk novels and now her romantic suspense novel have all been introduced here.  She's very welcome back to MBB again to tell us about her back to back releases, OUTBACK AFFAIR (#3 of the AFFAIR series) and a hot new romantic suspense novel DANGEROUS DESIRE.  She's a very busy lady, but she found time to come here and tell us about her new releases.

Annie, it's great to see you back with two exciting contemporary romances. You must have been working like crazy lately. How did they come to be released so close together?
My middle name should be ‘determined’, Maria. I have set myself a very busy schedule and I am disciplined in my working day (and night!). I love working to crazy deadlines...it seems to spur me on. Not only do I have these two books back to back, I have another one (a Bliss with Entangled Publishin…

To A Viking's Liking - Historical Romance Author Gina Conkle with a Giveaway.

Gina Conkle is a lover of history, books and romance, which makes the perfect recipe for historical romance writer. Her passion for castles and old places (the older and moldier the better!) means interesting family vacations. Good thing her husband and two sons share similar passions, except for romance…that’s where she gets the eye roll. When not visiting fascinating places, she can be found in southern California delving into the latest adventures of organic gardening and serving as chief taxi driver. Gina has an interesting guest post to share with us today about Viking omance.  As I'm from Dublin myself, which was originally a Viking city, I'm fascinated.

Jenny Brigalow with a new release THE CHILDREN OF THE MIST and a GIVEAWAY

Born in Britain, Jenny Brigalow arrived in Australia as a young woman in 1985 for an impromptu holiday and never left. She fell in love with the Australian bush, its unique flora and fauna and the colourful personalities that inhabit the country. Shes live on a small acreage close to Toowoomba with her family, dogs, cats and ponies. She loves to write. She writes rural romance, young adult and, more recently, literary fiction. When she's not writing, she's reading, walking or riding her Connemara pony, Romeo. Rural romance is a natural extension of her passion for all things country. She believes that romance is the universal language of love. And besides, she's a sucker for a happy ending.  Jenny is very welcome to MBB today.  She has a guest post for us on the subject of crossing over from contemporary romance to young adult fiction.

Sally Quilford With Three New Releases!

Author Sally Quilford is a favourite author and guest of mine here at MBB and when I realised that she had no less than three releases out lately, I was determined to get her over to the blog to tell the readers here all about them.   Sally's output is amazing.  She writes across the genres, churning out contemporary romance, romantic suspense, historical romances and even a romance writing craft book features among her latest releases.  She participates in a lot of writing related activities.  She ran the Writer's Christmas Party on Facebook last year and sets up regular writing challenges (NaNoWriMo type challenges for when NaNoWriMo is not on, you could say) so writers can write together and encourage each other. She also runs writing courses and  critiques work for other writers.  That's a lot of balls to juggle in the air at one time and as if that wasn't quite enough she does her own social networking too and engages regularly with readers. Here are some question…
